The lake is a reservoir lake similar to Douglas and Norris lakes. It has the storage capacity of 749,400 acre-feet [whatever that is]. Due to flood control function of the Tennessee Valley Authority river system, it will fluctuate between winter reservoir and summer recreational levels; that can be as much as 30 feet.
